1 Timothy 6 - Handling Money
In the final chapter of 1 Timothy, Paul offers advice to slaves regarding their masters, and then closes by giving is final thoughts/encouragements to Timothy. Paul warns Timothy about the love of money, because it has led so many others astray. He then offers instruction on how followers of Jesus ought to handle money. In this message we hear from Pastor Justin, who encourages us to use all that we have for the kingdom of God. As Americans many of us are wealthier than we realize. Therefore, we must resist the love of money and instead use the resources we’ve been given to bless others.
1 Timothy 5 - Relationships in the Church
In 1 Timothy 5, we hear about how we are called to treat one another in the church. Paul gives Timothy specific instructions on how to treat older and younger people, widows, and elders. From these instructions, Pastor Kevin draws out 5 principles on how we are called to treat people, both inside and outside the church.
1 Timothy 4 - Encouragements & Warnings
In 1 Timothy chapter 4, Paul gives some encouragements and warnings to Timothy. He encourages Timothy not to neglect his gifts or look down on himself because of his age, but urges him to teach and set an example with boldness. He also warns Timothy to look out for and guard against false teachers, and urges him to continue training himself in godliness. In this message, we are reminded to press on and train spiritually.
1 Timothy 2 - Roles in the Church
Chapter 2 of 1 Timothy covers roles within the church. Paul instructs Timothy that everyone in the church should pray for everyone. It is the duty of all church members, and it means we're called to pray even for those we don't like. Paul then discusses the roles of men & women. This passage has been heavily debated and used in harmful ways, but Paul's intent is for good. In this message, Pastor Kevin explains what Paul means, showing us that God ordained men and women to have different roles that complement one another. Therefore we need each other and should unite together for the sake of the church.
1 Timothy 1 - The Message of the Church
In 1 Timothy, Paul writes to Timothy to encourage him as he leads the church in Ephesus. The first chapter reminds Timothy of the message of the church, the gospel. Timothy is to hold firm to the gospel, opposing anyone who teaches something that is not in line with the gospel. When we turn from the gospel, the result is a shipwrecked faith.
